Laser hair removal works by disabling hair that is in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter the active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in the target area.

The laser hand piece glides along the skin delivering a pulse of light to the hair. Some patients experience a mild pinching sensation. Although no local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, a topical numbing cream can be applied during treatment.

Patients may immediately return to normal activities, but should not wax, shave or pluck for at least three days following treatment. Sunscreen is also recommended on any treated areas that may be exposed to the sun.
